Speaking at CardCon 2022: Writing About Credit Card Rewards Like An Expert

One of my favorite conferences every year is CardCon. It’s an amazing opportunity to network with the best and brightest people in the credit card industry. Each year, the conference is hosted in a different city, which creates opportunities to sample the local cuisine while networking with experts, brands, and banks. CardCon 2022 is just a few days away, and there’s still time to join us if you want to learn more about credit cards and credit scores.

What is CardCon?

CardCon is the conference for credit cards and consumer credit media. It is run by my friend Jason Steele, who is a respected and well-known freelance writer. He specializes in the travel, credit card, and loyalty program industry. And he was one of the first people I turned to when I launched my freelance writing career.

It is a multi-day conference that features sessions on the latest trends in the credit card industry, how to improve your freelance career, and more. Attendees also meet with brands and banks in the credit card industry. And this year, there is a freelance writer marketplace where you can meet with companies looking to hire writers. Jason started the conference a few years ago, and I’ve been fortunate enough to attend every year.

Where is CardCon 2022 located?

This year’s conference is at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside. It is located in the Business District at Two Poydras St, New Orleans, LA 70130. The hotel is less than a mile from the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and Jackson Square.

When is CardCon 2022?

CardCon 2022 is happening September 28-30, 2022, with sessions all day Wednesday and Thursday, plus a half-day on Friday. This year’s CardCon also offers a pre-conference “Fun Day” on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. It includes sponsored activities like a French Quarter tour, a Swamp Tour, and sponsored lunches and dinners.

How much is CardCon 2022 registration?

Registration fees increase throughout the year. So, it is best to register right away. Last-minute registration for content creators and editors is $399, while industry passes are $599 each.

Capital One is sponsoring a scholarship for freelance writers to attend CardCon 2022 for free. Availability is limited, so submit your application today to qualify to attend CardCon 2022 as a guest of Capital One.

Writing about credit card rewards like an expert

I’m excited to moderate the panel on writing about credit card rewards like an expert. Credit card rewards have changed my life for the better, and I want to ensure that they can do the same for you. By helping writers who are just learning about miles and points learn how to improve their articles, everyone will benefit from their knowledge.

This is my second speaking engagement of the year (FinCon 2022 in Orlando), and it is awesome to be able to give back to the freelance writing community. On this year’s panel, we are fortunate to have the following guest speakers who will share their knowledge:

We’ll cover how to increase your knowledge, how to work with banks and brands, what editors are looking for, and more.

CardCon Ignite

In addition to the main speakers, CardCon offers Ignite presentations on Thursday night. These presentations are an excellent opportunity to get practice speaking in front of a crowd. Here’s my CardCon Ignite presentation from 2019 where I talked about how travel rewards brought me closer to my kids.

The Bald Thoughts

If you’re looking to grow your freelance writing career, it makes sense to attend industry conferences like CardCon 2022. It is one of the conferences that I attend every year because of the connections I make and the quality of the speakers. Hopefully, you can join us in New Orleans for the conference. If not, make sure that you sign up for CardCon’s newsletter so that you’ll be among the first to learn where it will be next year.
